SaskScapes is a podcast hosted and created by Kevin Power, it features stories of arts, culture and heritage in Saskatchewan. The first two seasons of SaskScapes were sponsored exclusively by SaskCulture www.saskculture.ca as part of the Community Engagement Animateur program. Funding to the cultural sector is provided by the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation.

    SaskScapes host Kevin Power heads to Ness Creek, just outside of Big River, SK and visits the annual Bluegrass Music Camp. This episode highlights the Creative Kids initiative, part of SaskCulture. Creative Kids provides opportunities to kids who might not otherwise be able to afford to attend activities such as art, dance, heritage and music.     In the wake of raging forest fires throughout northern Saskatchewan, thousands of evacuees were brought together in temporary shelters. One such shelter was at Beardy's and Okemasis First Nation, near Duck Lake, SK.  Kevin Power meets with three guests: an evacuee, a social worker in mental health, and band councillor for Beardy's. The arena has become a temporary shelter and affectionally known as "Rez Cross".     This is a special bonus edition of SaskScapes being posted during a time when the northern communities of Saskatchewan are facing a very difficult situation. Over 100 forest fires continue to burn and have forced thousands of residents out of their homes. The evacuees have moved swiftly to various locations across the province without a great deal of time to take all of their belongings.  Sheryl Kimbley has put a call out to local musicians in the Saskatoon, Regina, and Prince Albert areas to come together in a show of support and hold benefit concerts to raise funds. The support so far has been overwhelming. This podcast was recorded in Saskatoon on June 30, 2015.
