Good or bad, sometimes comics surprise you. You think you know what you're going to get, but the experience winds up nowhere near your expectations. This week, at least three of the comics (Black Panther #36, Captain America #38, Iron Man: Director of SHIELD #29, Marvel Adventures The Avengers #24 and X-Factor #31) surprised Des and Mike. But where did those surprises fall on the positive / negative scale?

Once home, she's greeted by a long-lost friend of the monkey variety ("Monkey Fun"). After that, Brainiac returns ("Ghost in the Machine"), and Superman finally meets Darkseid ("Father's Day").

Of the five comic books Des and Mike spoke about this week (Avengers: The Initiative #11, Hercules #1, The Incredible Hercules #116, Iron Man #28 and War is Hell: The First Flight of the Phantom Eagle #2), three were filled with great storytelling, one was painfully awful and one (sort of) split them.
