It's that time of year! We're starting our top of the year lists here at the PDC and we begin this week with our top scenes of the year. We're all wound up this week! Everyone's ready to talk about the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead and what the future hold's for Rick and co. Unfortunatley we've had to edit the content on this episode at the last minute, we were planning on covering the new releases as usual but, much to our shock and dismay, Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker was killed in a car wreck yesterday afternoon. While we will still be covering this week's releases we thought it better to remember the career of yet another actor that we've lost far too young.  Paul Walker1973-2013

Then we discover why sarcasm has become so rampant....Vince Vaughn fathered thousands of kids! John, Julian and Rocky are on the roster today as they break down the latest entry in the Marvel cinematic universe, Thor: The Dark World. We'll also look into the recent announcment that Netflix will be producing series' based on four major Marvel characters. Then it's onto The Walking Dead and all the news worth knowing from the past week. 

We are a crew divided when it comes to a decision on Ender's Game, the latest book adaptation to hit the big screen. The Oscar hopefuls are coming in weekly now! October brings the most exciting time of the year in film as every big movie vieing for a gold statue starts to make their case. This week we'll be talking about the big screen adaptation of the gripping true life account of a free man kidnapped into slavery with Steve McQueen's Ten Years a Slave. Slightly less Oscary but just as highly anticipated we'll also be talking about the big screen remake of Carrie with Chloe Grace Moretz. 

This week on the Punch Drunk Podcast! -Tom Hanks recreates the harrowing situation of Captain Richard Phillips and his crew when they were hijacked by Somali pirates off the coast of Africa - Machete's back....and he's one bad muth!. Danny Trejo returns as Machete in the surefire way to havve a good time, Machete Kills. The gang will let you know if he can recapture the B-movie cult classic status of the first.     

It's the first of many times in the next few months that we'll probably be using the word's "Best Movie of the Year", though I think this week is said most in earnest. Gravity the stuck in space drama featuring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock is drawing comments from "Best movie of the Year"  to "Pushing the bounds of cinema!". Then we have Justin Timberlake facting up against Ben Affleck in the off-shore gambling thriller Runner, Runner. 

'Parkland' director Peter Landesman talks about approaching the subject of JFK's assassination in a new way, and releasing the film during its 50th anniversary.

Holy crap....it's happening! Movie rush season is upon us and with no less than 7 movies releasing this weekend we're barely going to have time to breathe. As if that wasn't enough TV premier month is officially in full swing, know what that means? Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. and so much more. Join us for another fun filled hour!

As we prepare to get into Oscar contender mode here at the PDC there isn't a quite moment. Even this weekend, the calm before the storm, we have three big movies to bring to you. First up is the 'Taken'-esque Prisoners with Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman, then we're gonna do our best to pop, lock, and drop it with Battle of the Year. Finally, getting us into the mood many of our Oscar hopefuls will be looking to get us in, it's Wadjda. Who's Riddick you ask? Why he's the character most people associate with Vin Diesel...after Dominic Torreto of course. Pitch Black hit the scene about 10 years ago and made an instant sci-fi cult icon in the goggle wearing bad-ass. The Chronicles of Riddick also hit with fans...just not in such a big way. A huge week for martial arts fans everywhere as Wong Kar-Wai's take on legendary Wing Chun master Ip Man, The Grandmaster, hits screens. Then it's on to a team up I would never have seen coming with Ethan Hawke and Selna Gomez in Getaway. All this plus news and your weekly does of PDC shenanigans!

It's not often that we put a news item in the headline of our show but some exceptions must be made. It's come out this week that Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman in Man of Steel 2. This has caused upheaval not just across the internet but right here under the roof of the PDC. Well debate the pros/cons and get to the bottom of just why Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms. It must be huge news because it's taken top billing over a review we've been waiting 10 years to give, the finale to Edgar Wright's Cornetto trilogy, The World's End, does it hold up to it's predecessors Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz? Well answer all of this and more on this week's episode of the Punch Drunk Podcast. 

Oscar hopefuls, ultra-violent pre-teens, and IPod's, that's what this week on the Punch Drunk Podcast is all about. The gang jumps into Lee Daniel's The Butler to see if Forest Whitaker's portrayal of a White House butler will lead to Oscar gold or just another halfway grab at the little gold guy. Does Kick-Ass 2 reach the lofty heights reached by it's suprise hit predecessor? Can the same guy who played Kelso convincenly portray one of the greatest minds of the last 50 years in Jobs? The end of Summer is not taking it easy on us here at the PDC.  With no less than 7 films coming out this past week from Wednesday to Friday there will be no time for the jibba jabba...but you know us better than that. We'll be hitting everything from gritty sci-fi blockbusters like Elysium starring Matt Damon to high flying animated family faire with Disney's Planes. 

The last time we saw Wolverine hit the big screen in a solo effort the results were...well...divided. This weekend we get the follow-up The Wolverine and it looks like some of those negatives have been corrected. Then it's on to The To-Do List with Aubrey Plaza and then to the documentary that's making alot of waves The Act of Killing.
