Must Be Tuesday: Veronica Mars Reviews

Things are AMPED for the season three Lucifer finale: Pierce is exposed as a dick and Lucifer is exposed as the devil. Other big changes are afoot as Charlotte shuffles off this mortal coil to heaven, with Amenadiel regaining his angel wings to escort her. RIP girl! These episodes are a wall to wall blast. This week on the pod, we discuss the semi-dreaded Chloe/Cain relationship, which goes from 0 to 80 back to 0 to 100 and finally back once again to 0. While Chloe is dealing with the emotional whiplash, Lucifer is off losing his sh*t during an attempt at an emotional breakthrough. Maze is still pissed, Charlotte and Amenadiel are friends now, and Dan is somehow the most emotionally mature around. Congrats on your win by default, Dan!

Season three continues its own little hell loop for Lucifer, as he gets close to chloe-->get scared and push chloe away-->oops she's too far away--->looks like I've blown it. Unfortunately for him, Pierce/Marcus/Cain is there to pick up the pieces as Chloe semi-reluctantly agrees to date him. Meanwhile, Maze takes a dive off the deep end and Charlotte gets the deets on her missing time.

Lucifer and Chloe work through their issues while Pierce/Cain becomes moderately more interesting this week, but that's sure to change again soon enough. Amenadiel is on fire this week: he kicks Cain's ass, successfully predicts the end of the season and avoids getting dumped. Congrats pal! Cheers.

Lucifer S3's first arc comes to an end, & while it's not exactly a whimper, it's also definitely not a bang. The sinnerman is just some guy, working for Cain, who is Pierce & actually the Sinnerman, except we don't really care about the sinnerman now. Linda & Amenadiel are horny & Maze notices; she's displeased. Chloe agrees to an Ocean's 11-style stunt to appease Lucifer, only for him to double back and betray her trust. But really, all you need to know is Pierce=Cain and the sinnerman is nothing. Cheers!

Lucifer season three continues it's flirtation with an overall plot; this week, we're in the playing hard-to-get phase. Sinnerman who? Never heard of him. Instead, we're spending some time getting to know the real Charlotte Richards while Lucifer regresses to his early season two emotional state. Still, there are some great eps and moments here so we're nowhere near iZombie levels of plot frustration. Cheers to that!

We're getting into Lucifer season 3 this week by talking about the first four episodes. The season plot isn't much more than a blip on the radar: we're briefly introduced to the concept of the sinnerman, but it's mostly dropped for episodic murders. Lucifer has wings, but no devil face; Chloe's got problems with Pierce, the new boss; and everyone else is mostly just treading water. Kinda makes you miss mum, doesn't it? But hey, it's quarantine, so grab a drink and let's get through it together. Cheers!

We've reached the end of Lucifer season two, and the end our time with Mum, long may she reign in her own universe. Chloe investigates mum's various accidental crimes while team supernatural is deciding what to do with mum and the blade. Linda gets caught in the crossfire, with Amenadiel to the rescue. Lucifer boots mum out of our reality, and promises Chloe that for real this time, he's gonna come clean. But oops, he's dropped into the desert with a back full of surprise. 

Week two of remote recording continues as we near the end of Lucifer season 2. Lucifer, in what we discuss as misguided attempt to protect Chloe's power of choice, gets married to someone else. Chloe is endlessly forgiving, so they return to being work partners. Later, in one of the show's best one-off eps, we meet God. Or do we?? Send us your thoughts if you have them! Cheers.

To start, we want to acknowledge the audio quality for this ep is not up to our usual standard. Over on Lucifer, things have escalated greatly. Deckerstar is basically a go, until Chloe's miracle status is revealed. Lucifer takes a quick trip to hell with the help from team supernatural, & then peaces from Los Angeles entirely. Poor Chloe. 

As we talk about constantly on the show, Lucifer is great for a Netflix binge. We suspect with the goings-on in the world currently and various quarantines this will be more true than normal. Join us, you'll have a blast! This week, we've got Chloe and Lucifer growing closer, much to Mum's chagrin. Dan gets it on with the goddess of all creation. Maze learns that satisfaction comes from within. Oh, and Chloe is a miracle. Cheers!

This week on Lucifer we meet a new member of the celestial family, and he is not out here for fun times and wacky hijinks. In fact, he wants Lucifer to choose: send mum back to hell, or chloe will die. Lucifer chooses option three, killing his bro, sending him into a misery spiral that ends with him twinning Dan. Meanwhile, Linda is fully looped in on the devil situation, and Maze becomes a bounty hunter. Chloe's got some dad drama, too, but she handles it. 

Mum's here! Is she good, is she bad, is she played by Battlestar Galactica's Number Six? The answer is yes, and she (along with bubbly Ella) makes an excellent addition to Lucifer. Luci, Amenadiel and Maze deal with the mum problem, as Chloe and Dan get back to work and we wave goodbye to Palmetto: RIP, you were basically meaningless. Chloe and the main cast ladies have a drunk girls night, and Alli and Mary join in with shots and beers. Join us! Cheers.

This week's Lucifer finale meets with the end of Palmetto, which rapidly loses any real relevance to the story. Lucifer is out and about, trying to figure out what the deal is with Chloe and having a genuinely terrible day. Amenadiel makes the smart choice of taking on a new personality and helping Lucifer out of his myriad troubles. A kidnapping, shootout and deal with God later, not much has changed except one little escaped prisoner: mum! 

After a set of episodes last week that dealt with Lucifer's personal growth, this week we have a trio of episodes that focus on the Chloe/Lucifer relationship. First, Lucifer makes and loses a new friend, then Chloe gets dumped over text and finally we get the focus on a word that will repeat so much over the show you won't believe it: vulnerable. Alli and Mary chat episodes 4-7 of Lucifer season one this week. What's amazing about these eps is the clear beginning of an arc that culminates in Netflix's season 4: who is Lucifer? Who has he been? Who does he want to become? These episodes deal with the protection and then rejection of his wings. Meanwhile, Chloe's ghosts come back to haunt her, literally, as Amenadiel pulls some not-so-angelic shenanigans. Grab a beer and join us! 

Alli and Mary are back, and for our new season we're discussing Lucifer, your traditional male/female cop show with a biblical twist. Can this show be a little cheesy, a little sleazy and a touch formulaic? Well, sure, but it's also a ton of fucking fun. A silly premise is presented with an earnestness and care. The cast is dope. The music is a blast. This week, we go over the first four eps of season 1 and talk Lucifer's powers, the Los Angeles worldbuilding & the intro of our main characters. Also, FINALLY someone is getting therapy up in here. Damn.

This week, Alli and Mary talk Rise of Skywalker, yet another controversial piece of a trilogy marred by wonky behind-the-scenes machinations. We discuss the breakneck pacing, Ben Solo, our lovely trio, and how the whole thing fits together, Phantom Menace to present. Remember, the beauty of Star Wars is YOU get to pick what you love. Alli, Mary and special guest Alex finally catch up to present with The Last Jedi as we prepare for The Rise of Skywalker in just two days (!!). Last Jedi is controversial, moreso even than the prequels due to recency bias, and that is not a totally undeserved reputation. Last Jedi has high highs and low lows. We discuss Star Wars in the era of Marvel, the pyramid of male attractiveness, misapplied characters and dope lightsaber fights. Cheers!

Alli and Mary jump into Finn, Kylo Ren and Rey's characters at length, their journeys and her strengths/weaknesses: look folks, Rey isn't perfect, and if I have to hear the term Mary Sue again I'm gonna lose it. Force Awakens might be lacking a bit in original plot, but it's full of heart and character. The scenery is gorgeous and the music is lovely. The most important part in enjoying the sequels, we decide, is letting go of your personal OT headcanon. Those movies are still there, folks. Go back and imagine any time you like. Cheers!
