  • Music Heals w/ Mo Tedder

    12/12/2022 Duración: 01h06min

Mo Tedder is a songwriter from Nashville, TN who has an extremely interesting story! I met her on one of my plane rides back home from Nashville, and we talked for basically the entire flight. Once she told me about her work with Healing Heartstrings, I knew I had to get her on the podcast. She takes people in the their darkest moments and helps them write and create songs to help them manage their pain. It's truly an incredible story and I think you are going to enjoy this conversation. • A Different Kind Of Music Job w/ Dan & Krystal (Warm Audio & Audio-Technica)

    28/11/2022 Duración: 54min

Today I am talking to Dan and Krystal from a company called Online Marketing. (No it isn't necessarily THAT kind of online marketing). They hold a rather unique position in the musical instruments market that I do not think most people have considered or are even aware exists. We talk about what that is, what the purpose of the company is and go over some products from a couple of the brands that they represent. Specifically Warm Audio and Audio-Technica, both of whom are probably companies you have heard of before. Enjoy the episode good people! 21/11/2022 Duración: 01h07min

They just pull up outside of a venue (oftentimes venues that refused to book them) and rip a fantastic set right in the street. We talk about the philosophy behind this process, what their rigs look like, the goals for the band and a whole lot more! • Mr. Robert Keeley!!!

    07/11/2022 Duración: 01h17min

This is a long overdue episode! I am bringing back one of my favorite people, Bob Keeley himself. When Rob agreed to come on the podcast way back in 2015, I was not only flabergasted that he agreed to it, but it was one of the best episodes of this show that has been published. Rob is back and giving us a much needed update on the state of Keeley Electronics, talking about collaborating with Andy Timmons, elaborating on some overlooked aspects of running a manufacturing business in the US, how Boss inspired him, and a whole lot more! • Video Games Started It All w/ Ayla Tesler-Mabe

    25/10/2022 Duración: 01h14min

Lots of people have theorized that the video game "Rock Band" may have kick started a whole generation of guitarists. Ayla proves that that might just be true. We had a great conversation about bringing just what the song needs to the table, technical ability vs songwriting, asking about the death of "genre" saying "YES" to everything and a whole lot more! Check her out on YouTube & Instagram as well as her website. You can also get lessons from her and a bunch of other rad folks at Guitareo. • Protesting... Music? w/ Pat Finnerty

    17/10/2022 Duración: 01h12min

WHAT MAKES THIS SONG STINK? That is the question that launched Pat's YouTube career. In the depths of lockdown, Pat Finnerty, a lifetime musician from Scranton, PA started making videos critiquing songs. I found him via a video he made where he was literally protesting Train's "Soul Sister". Normally I kind of detest these types of things, but Pat has such a hilarious yet honest delivery that it just works. His work is absolutely hilarious, yet simultaneously accurate. I caught Pat on a livestream shortly after finding his gem of a YouTube channel, and we chatted briefly while I was in some sort of zombie state. I invited him on the show, he accepted and now here we are! I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did, and when you are done with it you have to check out his channel HERE. 15/08/2022 Duración: 01h04min

How do I get sponsored? How do I get FREE GEAR??? These are questions that I get fairly consistently and the short answer is that nothing is free. He is managing the A&R program at Stringjoy, Victory Amps, Origin Effects and more. He's tremendously good at his job, and has a lot of insight into what these relationships look like. Listen. Enjoy. • Is It OK To Smash Guitars? w/ Kai West

    08/08/2022 Duración: 01h17min

What do Wendy O. Williams, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Pete Townshend, Mike McCready, and Blake Wyland have in common? We have all SMASHED GUITARS as part of a public performance. This polarizing practice is so deeply integrated into music culture, and yet it is so frowned upon by a large swath of the music community. Is it ok? Is it terrible? Is it wasteful? Is it excessive? I had Kai West on to dissect this issue a little bit further. Kai is a Musicologist and PhD candidate at the University of Michigan. He has extensively researched and studied electric guitar culture which of course includes the history of guitar smashing. This is a very interesting conversation about a fairly divisive topic. I hope you enjoy the show!
