Judges:  Now we encounter the most famous of all Judges: Samson.  This two sided character was exactly what God needed to break Israel free from the Philistines and prevent their potential assimilation and extinction. Teacher: Eric Williams

Jephthah - Standing on the shoulders of some past failures and mistakes gives us an insightful perspective on sin and repentance.  The Judges cycle fires up once again with Jephthah and we examine some fresh perspectives on sin and the differences between regret and repentance. Judges 9 Shechem is the crossroads of many of the great OT characters - Abram, Moses, Joshua.  Yet in Judges, in Shechem there is no mention of YHWH in this narrative.   Isn’t it interesting, that the intersection of the Greats of the OT, here at this point in the story, YHWH has removed himself.  Perhaps the point is when YHWH is absent, there really isn’t much of a point, is there—the plot is gone and lost.  Confusion remains.
