SPECIAL: I Remember Joe: A 2009 Tribute
01/04/2009 Duración: 34minI like to watch NASCAR racing, but I only understand parts of it. Up till the late 1990's, NASCAR had a rule, when there was an accident and the yellow flag went out, crashed cars on the track, busted tires & car parts & smoke & flames everywhere, the cars were supposed to "race to the line," dodging alla that junk on the track, to have a good position when the race restarted. A few years back, they made a new rule. The officials would decide in what order people would line up under the yellow, and no one would race to the line. But one guy would get moved up to the very tail end of the lead lap. "The Lucky Dog."I started listening to podcasts in 2006. I listened to practically every podcast I could find. I started thinking, "I could do that!" So I started my own podcast, in February 2007. Joe Murphy died of leiomyosarcoma on April 1st, 2007. I honestly don't know if I ever heard the podcasts Joe was on, but I hav

Wild Animals I Have Known -- The Promo!
13/03/2009 Duración: 01minJust thought I'd let you know, at the end of the month, my reading of "Wild Animals I Have Known" by Ernest Thompson Seton will be available on Podiobooks.com. Yes, I know, I'm jumping the gun a bit. But (a) I'm proud of how the audiobook turned out, and (b) I'm rather proud of how the promo turned out, too. So I wanted to share that with you now.The official release date on Podiobooks.com will be 3/31/2009 -- which happens to be my Mom's birthday. Being unemployed (along with the rest of the world), I'll be hard put to buy anything for her, but this, I can do. Heck, she likes audio books. "Look Mommie, I made it myself -- and didn't use any macaroni or glue!"Hope you enjoy the promo. And given you'll be getting this on Friday the 13th.... Listen Carefully!Griz

Hiber-Nation 61 -- Wild Animals I Have Known - REDRUFF The Story of the Don Valley Partridge 5 - 7 by Ernest Thompson Seton
12/03/2009 Duración: 35minK7 Comment Line: 206-350-6909Wild Animals I have Known, by Ernest Thompson Seton"REDRUFF The Story of the Don Valley Partridge" Parts 5 - 7This is the end of the book. I hope you ... I was about to say "enjoyed..."I hope you got as much out of the book as I did. Parts of the stories are sad. I have to admit, at moments in editing, I got tears in my eyes. I imagine that was mostly from the stories themselves. But I hope I did it justice. I believe I did. Thanks for listening.Show Theme: Pachelbel's "Canon in D" from Owen Poteat.Book Theme: "Sovereign" from Kevin MacLeod.

Available now on Podiobooks.com!
11/03/2009 Duración: 01minForgot to mention, I now have "A Handy Guide for Beggars," by Vachel Lindsay, available on Podiobooks.com. I went back through all those files I'd recorded for Hiber-Nation, and did the necessary editing to fit them to the Podiobooks standards. So no, they don't sound any better than they did, but you can use the Personalized Feed mechanism to get the book sent episode-by-episode from beginning to end.So if you liked the book, you could recommend the Podiobooks feed to your friends. For example. I'm just sayin'. I've attached the promo for "Beggars" to the feed, so you'll have a copy you could share, or play on your podcast, if ya wanna. I'd appreciate that. Thanks!Griz

Episode 86 -- Duluth! Revisited! Again!
09/03/2009 Duración: 26minK7 Comment Line: 206-350-6909Back in Episode 56, I did that J Proctor Knott speech that in 1871 made Duluth one of the best-known cities in the country -- for a little while, anyway. I really liked the way the speech turned out, mostly. But I didn't like the way that show turned out. Didn't like the music, didn't like the audio quality, the flaws kept picking at me. So tonight I opened up Episode 56, re-edited it and cleaned it up a bit. And here it is. I liked it enough that I thought it worthwhile to get it as good as possible.Still not perfect, but a lot better, I think. If you missed it the first time, or even if not, I hope you like this version. Thanks for your patience with my perfectionism.
