In the parable of the ten virgins, Jesus teaches us to wait wisely for his coming. Not all who are waiting for Christ’s return are ready for it, so be prepared by possessing faith not merely professing it. (Text: Matthew 25:1-13)

Jesus explains how Christians should live in light of his “delayed” return. Being prepared for Jesus’ return means being a faithful servant, who obeys Christ’s commands and serves others (Text: Matthew 24:45-51)

Jesus explains that his Parousia will come at an unknown and unexpected time, but his disciples must be prepared. Readiness is explained here by being awake and alert. Jesus doesn’t want us to simply wait for his return; he wants us to be ready for it by staying awake and alert. (Text: Matthew 24:36-44)

Jesus continues explaining what follows the great tribulation of “the end” with a vivid description of judgment and dominion. In this sermon we learn that our views of the "last days" should not make us fearful or anxious but rather hopeful and confident for life today. Christ’s enthronement as King means the judgment of sinners, the gathering of his people, and that the purposes of God are being accomplished.  (Text: Matthew 24:29-35)

Jesus  instructs the disciples how to be prepared for times of great tribulation. In this sermon, we hear that we must respond to God’s commands, instructions, and warnings with immediate and informed obedience.  (Text: Matthew 24:15-28)

When Jesus answers questions about the future destruction of the Temple, he first explains what the signs are NOT and what NOT to do. Christians today must also take care to not be led astray by false teaching, not be alarmed by troubling news and events, and they must patiently endure by God’s grace. (Text: Matthew 24:3-14)
