The USC Triple-Double Podcast returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the Women of Troy's road sweep of the Oregon schools as well as the up and down week for the men's basketball team where the Trojans held off Utah with a big block by Joshua Morgan to deny the game-tying layup attempt and then a double-overtime loss to Colorado that saw the Trojans blow a 16-point lead in the final 10 minutes and not be able to stop a game-tying attempt at the rim. The Women of Troy climbed to No. 7 in the Associated Press top 25 poll and at No. 11 in the NET rankings. They also landed as the No. 9 overall seed (a No. 3 regional seed) in the NCAA's first unveiling of the projected top 16 seeds after defeating Oregon and Oregon State thanks to a pair of dynamic first-quarter starts. The Trojans move into a three-way tie for second place in the Pac-12 standings before hosting Utah and Colorado this week. The men's team moved out of a last-place tie with Oregon State

Shotgun Spratling and Jack Smith return with another episode of the Dedeaux Download Podcast to open the 2024 regular season. They break down USC baseball's disappointing opening weekend where the Trojans went winless in the MLB Desert Invitational in Arizona, falling to BYU (8-1), Grand Canyon (8-1) and Ohio State (5-2). The Trojans managed only 12 hits and four runs on the weekend with Jacob Galloway supplying nearly half of that output himself in one of the lone bright spots for the offense. USC struck out 31 times in three games and struggled mightily when it got runners on base, going just 2 for 34 (.059), and were even worse with runners in scoring position, going 1 for 25 (.040). But the offense wasn't the only area of concern for the Trojans. The pitching allowed 19 walks, and the defense committed six errors. The guys talk about the current state of NIL for the Trojans and the ever changing landscape Cohen talked about in our interview, with the attorney generals from Virginia and Tennessee now suing the NCAA alleging that their restrictions on high school or NCAA Transfer Portal players receiving compensation from collectives is illegal. The NCAA has attempted to put "guardrails" around NIL compensation and players ability to transfer and every time it does the courts have got involved. This latest lawsuit would allow schools to use NIL as an inducement for recruits and transfers, a practice currently not allowed according to the NCAA. USC is one of the programs that has followed all of the NCAA rules when it comes to NIL compensation being used as an inducement in the recruiting process. I
