    24/08/2016 Duración: 38min

John is joined by Hamish to discuss the events of the last week in Scottish football. There is an early positive with the McBookie charity bets as we get our first win of the season. The podcast is recorded as Celtic play their crucial European qualifier. The guys discuss whether it is good or bad for Scottish football if they progress. Some of the Premiership games are discussed with Hamish being particularly impressed with Hearts performance against Inverness. Aberdeen get off the mark with a win with John pleased that they scored their first league goals of the season. The attention then shifts towards the announcement of the Scotland squad with neither Hamish or John too excited by it. Hopefully though there is plenty of excitement when campaign starts however you’d take boring if it means Scotland qualify. The podcast ends with Hamish giving his picks for the charity bets. Thanks to those who have provided feedback @sffpodcast on twitter so far this season. Thank you to McBookie for donating the charity

  • S6E3 Referee Indecision

    17/08/2016 Duración: 01h03min

John and Hamish are on this week to discuss the previous week of action in Scotland. Once again, the charity bet treble sees two out of three win so just short. They decide to stick to trebles from now on but maybe we’d be better picking a double. A brief summary of League Cup action is discussed as John was at Ayr v Aberdeen. They go on to discuss who they  think will win cup. Once again the Premiership is given priority in terms of reviewing the weekend action. As often is the case, referees come under criticism for their decisions or more so, lack of decision. The so called game of the weekend is discussed in Aberdeen v Hearts and how both John and Hamish are not too disheartened by their respective teams start to the season. Hamish takes centre stake in the choice of charity bets as he has some very exciting news. If you have any feedback regarding podcast then please tweet @sffpodcast or comment on the Facebook page, Scottish Football Forums. Tune in next week for more football chat and banter. As a

  • S6E2 The Scott Brown Show

    08/08/2016 Duración: 43min

John hosts the podcast and has Director of Podcasting and owner of Scottish Football Forums, Craig as a guest to talk about how Rangers are ‘back’. Hamish makes it a trio on the podcast. As always, we discuss the fortunes of the charity bet from the weekend. Both of them failed with our FGS, Simon Murray failing to score first. Our other bet saw Livingston and Clyde win however East Fife let us down. Two out of three isn’t bad but it doesn’t win you any money. There is a brief discussion with regards to Celtic and Aberdeen playing in Europe. John is frustrated that Aberdeen failed to get past the third qualifying round of the Europa League for third season in succession. There is little knowledge of the team that Celtic have drawn in Champions League playoff round but Hamish does mention something about ‘dodgy’ Eastern European owners. The team are pleased that the Premiership has returned. As always with Craig, the podcast becomes the pie podcast as he loves a pie. John gives a bit of gastro chat too. After

  • S6E1 Everyone Loves a Euro Trip

    27/07/2016 Duración: 01h35min

It’s the first podcast of the season with John hosting and joined by Andy as guest. The discussion focuses on the efforts of our teams in Europe and leads in to a Premiership preview. There is brief chat on the League Cup so far. The guys are pleased that Aberdeen have progressed to meet Maribor and discuss the difficult task they will face in order to advance further. Celtic progressed too which will please Krys. The Edinburgh teams, Hearts and Hibs both went out. Hibs were praised for their efforts with Hearts receiving their first major setback in last three seasons. A preview of the Premiership commences afterwards with discussion on who will do well and who will struggle. There will be more to come once the transfer window closes. John and Andy discuss the signings made by each club and what this may mean for each club. There is good news with McBookie continuing to provide us with our charity bets. It will be some effort to beat the total from last season. Keep up to date with us on the sffpodcast Twitt

  • S5E40 Say Hello, Wave Goodbye

    24/05/2016 Duración: 01h48min

It's the final podcast of the season and despite there only being three games this week there's been no end of discussion points! Krys is joined for the final time by John and Craig to pour over them. The Premiership playoff was brought to a conclusion as Kilmarnock retained their top flight status thanks mainly to one good performance. For Falkirk, its another season consigned to what will prove to be a very tight and exciting Championship. Then of course there was the Scottish Cup final which saw many things from the ending of an exceptionally long wait to the beginning of a long enquiry. Both the game and the aftermath merited a long discussion of course. There's also discussions of where Rangers need to strengthen for next season as well as a look at where Celtic might go with their new manager now in place. We wrap up the season by announcing where the charity bet winnings will be going. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stake in our charity bets throughout the course of this season, and the

  • S5E39 #PrayForSFFPodcast

    17/05/2016 Duración: 01h15min

It's been a couple of weeks since we've managed to get a podcast out thanks to scheduling conflicts and Skype issues, but Krys and John finally managed to get together with working equipment to discuss the final weekend of the Premiership season as well as the lower league playoffs. Celtic pick up their trophy in style with a goalscorer who makes even young men feel old, while Aberdeen gave up the ghost a while back. Kilmarnock didn't have an ideal preparation for their upcoming playoff fixtures, although maybe key players did by having time off. St Johnstone almost manage a full sweep of post-split points, while we discuss whether Dundee have been a disappointment or not. In the playoffs, it's congratulations to Queens Park and Ayr United who move up a division, while its a welcome to Edinburgh City who join the SPFL for the first time. That leads onto a discussion on the makeup of the Lowland League and a look at how East Stirling might adjust to their new position. Finally there's a look ahead to the seaso

  • S5E38 Deila Taxi

    25/04/2016 Duración: 01h05min

Back to league action for another few twists and turns of the Premiership season, Krys is joined by John to look at who can throw away things in the league the most. Aberdeen, Hearts and Celtic all slip up as the other three teams in the top six play for very little - something that only happens in England according to Graeme Souness. The penultimate weekend in the lower leagues saw a few more issues decided, with Livingston consigned to the playoffs and Forfar Athletic's relegation to League Two confirmed. But other aspects continue into the final weekend across all three divisions. We also take a brief look at the start of the Pyramid playoff as Cove Rangers took on Edinburgh City in the first leg for the right to face East Stirling. There's some in-depth discussion around the future for Hearts, Aberdeen and Celtic and what they might be aiming to do next season - while also reflecting on what might have been this season for all three. Celtic's confirmed change of management leads us to some speculation ove

  • S5E37 Pie in the Sky

    18/04/2016 Duración: 01h17min

It's Scottish Cup semi final weekend, and after two long and eventful matches Krys is hosting so we talk about pies instead. Craig and Hamish join in the in depth discussion about the future of the Killie Pie, before moving on to Saturday's hero Conrad Logan who seems no stranger to a pie. Jason Cummings takes a penalty like a pie, Mixu Paatelainen gets really angry about the timing of a pie, Ronny Deila bans pies to no avail, Mark Warburton pulls a pie out of his magic hat... While Cove Rangers and East Fife win the Highland and League Two titles. Sorry, like Hampden at the Petrofac Training Cup final we're now all out of pies. Sometimes we talk about the football involved across 240 minutes of action and two penalty shootouts, before moving on to look ahead to the post-split predictions and some hopeful pie in the sky charity bet picks. And speaking of the sky, has Tom Rogic's penalty come down from it yet? Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the steak... sorry, stake in our charity bet. This week wa

  • S5E36 Eight Point Gaps

    11/04/2016 Duración: 01h35min

Was this the decisive weekend in the Premiership? Krys is joined by John and Andy this week to discuss the big games at the top and the bottom of the top division. Prior to that we look down the pyramid to the Lowland and Highland Leagues, with one clinched and one just about there, as well as the team they might face from League Two now decided too. At the other end of League Two, it's looking all done and dusted for top spot but the playoffs are still as tight as they can be. League One's relegation positions are almost as tight, with Airdrieonians in particular still in the hunt for both promotion and relegation! In the Championship, Hibernian's awful form continues while Rangers have clinched a Championship and Challenge Cup double since the last podcast. The three teams in the promotion playoff are now confirmed, but the order could still be a crucial factor in seeing who goes on to face Premiership opposition. With the split in the Premiership now upon us, there's disappointment at the lack of derbies -

  • S5E35 Injury Time Drama

    04/04/2016 Duración: 01h20min

It's Krys and John again this week, discussing all the drama from this weekend's SPFL fixtures. Between three games in the Championship and one in League Two there were no fewer than four injury time equalisers - and indeed that League Two game there were two injury time goals! Rangers were made to wait for their Championship title celebrations, but it could be a double celebration this coming week as they host Dumbarton before taking on Peterhead in the Petrofac Training Cup final. In the top flight, it's as you were after Celtic and Aberdeen both won and the guys discuss how lucky Scott Brown was and how brilliant Michael McGovern was. Elsewhere, Dundee United edge ever closer to Kilmarnock above them and the weekly question of whether or not they'll stay up is asked. Tune in again next week to see if the pendulum swings again. There's predictions and charity bet picking before finishing up with some Rangers at Wrestlemania chat. No really. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charit

  • S5E34 Miller Time

    30/03/2016 Duración: 01h01min

John hosts the podcast this week with Krys and Craig as guests. Craig makes a welcome return and enjoys not having to host. The charity bets from last week are discussed with it being mentioned that Krys should maybe take another holiday as we do well when he is away. In League One, Dunfermline clinched the title at the weekend. There is a bit of beach football chat at this point. Craig teases us with talk of pie chat then reveals he never actually had a pie at Rangers game from the weekend. He discusses at length his thoughts on Rangers and declares his admiration for Kenny Miller. League Two continues to be a case of hot potato as no one seems to win it. Five teams are still in with a shout. The Scotland games are discussed and there is talk of whether much has been learned from the two victories. There is the usual stuff too with charity bet choices and Premiership result predictions. Thank you to McBookie for donating the charity bet stake. • S5E33 Rogic Rocket Fires Title Blow

    22/03/2016 Duración: 01h11min

Krys is back in hosting duties, while John continues his run on the podcast as the guys discuss the weekend action. It's a mixed bag for Hibernian who reached the Scottish Cup semi final but slipped further behind Falkirk in the race for second to Rangers. In League One, Dunfermline can taste the title, but there's still plenty to play for behind them and especially at the bottom where Brechin and Forfar are reeling in Stenhousemuir. Meanwhile in League Two it's still as open as it's always been. Of course, the big question is just how pivotal a weekend was it in the Premiership? A late winner for Celtic coupled with defeat for Aberdeen puts Deila's men one step closer to five in a row, although a look at the fixtures suggests it's far from a done deal. Dundee United gained a point on Kilmarnock, but will it be a vital point or another missed opportunity to close that gap at the bottom further? And with the split imminent, who will see out the season in which half of that divide? Thanks as always to McBookie

  • S5E32 Hibs Highland Nightmare

    16/03/2016 Duración: 49min

This week sees Hearts fan, Hamish make his debut on the podcast. Krys is on holiday so John takes over hosting duties. There’s plenty to talk about after a week that saw two Scotland squads announced. Hamish and John discuss who else might have been included. They both agree that Rangers and Dunfermline have their leagues pretty much wrapped up. League Two is a different story but Hamish reckons Elgin will get the job done. The Premiership review discusses the weekend fixtures plus the midweek encounter between Partick Thistle and Aberdeen. There is discussion on the role that Hearts may play in the title race and whether they could even be contenders. Last week saw both charity bets lose so we’re hoping for better luck with this week’s choices. Thanks to McBookie for providing the stakes. Thank you to McBookie for donating the charity bet stake. • S5E31 Pitch and Skint

    01/03/2016 Duración: 01h10min

This week sees Greig make a victorious return to the podcast and unsurprisingly much of the focus is on the Premiership race to the bottom as he gives Krys and John the lowdown on life trying to avoid the relegation playoff spot. With Motherwell currently sitting four points off both 4th spot and 11th spot, we discuss the validity and safety of the upcoming split, while the possibility of Dundee United coming back into the mix is also discussed. Looking at Motherwell in particular gives the guys to discuss the merits of youth versus experience and what kind of effect that can have in the dressing room, which then leads nicely into the dicussions around the various refereeing decisions across the weekend - starting with old head Keith Lasley winning a penalty against young head Aidan Nesbitt. It's not long though before the various decisions of Craig Thompson are the focus of the podcast, while the late penalty at Pittodrie also comes under scrutiny. Is the title race still going? Arguably it is in the Premier

    23/02/2016 Duración: 01h24min

No, you haven't downloaded the wrong podcast. Krys is still hosting the Scottish Football Forums podcast, but the opening discussion with John and Andy goes a bit off piste before we start digging into the real details of this weekend's football action. We start off looking at the latest changes at the top of League Two, with Elgin City contributing to another disappointing charity bet for the podcast while East Fife took full advantage to move top. In League One, Peterhead's great form continued while we discuss the benefits of being a full time team in the third tier. The television coverage this weekend focused on the Championship with a Scottish Super Sunday, and it was a toss up between "a worldlie" and seven changes and still winning comfortably for what was the key talking point of those games. Sadly, the talking point for Saturday's Championship action was the injury to Conor McGrandles of Falkirk. In the Premiership, is it too little too late for Dundee United? What is left for Hearts? How many more

  • S5E29 Collum Strikes Again

    17/02/2016 Duración: 01h08min

It's a mix of Scottish Cup and SPFL action on this week's podcast. Although all the weekend action was from the league, this podcast was recorded while two replays took place in the Scottish Cup, as well as a bottom of the Premiership clash between Dundee United and Motherwell. As the goals and results come in, they get mentioned throughout the podcast so it's a little bit bitty at time. Although, to be honest, Krys and John pretty much skim their way through most of the league action to get to the juicy discussion of the fall out from Monday night's game at Inverness. The only way the discussion about Willie Collum on this podcast could depress a football fan more is if you're a Dundee United fan and you're listening to the discussion about their fate too. There's some Leigh Griffiths stats, some stalemates in the Championship, Peterhead on a run and no jokes about Barry Ferguson and Clyde's problems with HMRC. No really, we couldn't think of any. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our

    02/02/2016 Duración: 01h17min

It's transfer deadline day, so in between discussing all the weekend action, Krys and John periodically stop to check what the latest news of the comings and goings. Part of that might have been Krys trying to avoid talking about the League Cup semi finals right enough. Actually, the guys did eventually get to the League Cup games played over the weekend, and unsurprisingly spent a lot of time focusing on key refereeing decisions in both games. That wasn't the only time referees came up, as no one seems to know why Dundee got a penalty in their game against Motherwell. Sadly that penalty wasn't enough to save the weather-adjusted charity bet though. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. Hopefully better luck this coming weekend. The usual recap of the league action, a look forward to the Scottish Cup fifth round, Premiership predictions... and Krys has a big rant about Celtic. And Billy Davies actually. Krys was quite ranty this week actually. Give sffpodcast On Twitter a f

  • S5E26 Rose to the Occasion

    27/01/2016 Duración: 01h15min

Another Tuesday night recording meant that Krys and John were on at the same time as two of the Scottish Cup fourth round matches were being played so there was a bit of jumping back and forth to see how those games were going as they chatted about the various topics of the week. In among the discussions across the four divisions there were some important questions asked such as "who did Halliday gesture towards", "where have that Dundee United been all season", and "why are there never midweek goals shown on Sportscene and just how right was Paul Hartley about that programme". But perhaps most importantly we ask the question - who is more incompetent, the SFA or the SPFL? That and all the usual reflections and predictions, it's another jam packed podcast. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. No luck this week sadly. Give sffpodcast On Twitter a follow to keep up with the latest charity bet odds, or just to give us some feedback on the podcast. And of course you can join u

  • S5E25 Champagne at Nandos

    19/01/2016 Duración: 01h22min

It's back to league action after the excitement of the Scottish Cup last week, and it's back to the duo of Krys and John to go over a weather reduced fixture card. Peterhead's win helped us to another charity bet win, while Annan Athletic were brought back down to Earth with a bump. In the Championship, all eyes were on the big game at the Falkirk Stadium, while Rangers continued their return to form at home to Livingston. In the top flight, Dundee United's plight wasn't helped by the visit of Celtic and the oddly skewed scoring statistics "record" of Leigh Griffiths. It was made even worse by Kilmarnock's win in the snow the following day. Hearts thumped Motherwell for six, while Dundee also rattled a few past Partick Thistle. But the real excitement came in Dingwall in a highly entertaining live match as ten man Aberdeen came from a goal down to beat Ross County. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. The best part of this podcast was surpassing last season's charity total
