The Stable: NFL Combine Review, Free Agency Wishlist, and Heather Lloyd
09/03/2019 Duración: 46minFirst up on The Stable I speak with Colts.com writer Heather Lloyd, you can find most of her stuff on ‘The Colts Roundup’, she can also be found on twitter @TheBlueMare. Heather takes a deep dive into a season review, she tells me who really stepped up to lead the Colts behind the scenes. She shares some stories about locker room personalities and gives us an insight into the player’s fashion. A great interview as always I encourage you not to miss out. The NFL Scouting Combine just wrapped up this week here in Indianapolis. While some players stood out others seemed to crash and burn and hurt their overall draft stock. The best thing to do after the Combine is go back and watch more tape on players you may not have looked carefully enough at. I took a second look at some of the players who impressed me at this years combine like A.J. Brown, Miles Boykin, Montez Sweat and Amani Oruwariye. I put together my list based on who the Colts should be targeting in this years draft. Of course there were also some disa

Colts Cast: Rookie UDFA year in review with Colts' safety George Odum
08/03/2019 Duración: 45minThe 2018 season was filled with rookie contribution for the Indianapolis Colts. Most will attribute that to the draft picks, but there were plenty of UDFA assistance to a surprisingly successful year for the Colts as well. Today, Zach Hicks joins Matt Danely as they talk to Colts' safety, and UDFA George Odum. Odum was part of an everchanging roster, and safety position for the Colts in 2018. We saw T.J. Green shown the door, and Matthias Farley lose out on most of the season due to injury. Odum became a vital part of a safety corps that also gained influential veteran Mike Mitchell, and was a key position in the success of a very young defense. Odum was an excellent special teams contributor, and was third at the position in total tackles despite only starting two games for the Colts. Odum looks to possibly be a long-term piece in a defense going through a massive youth movement in Chris Ballard's third full season as GM. Making his second season that much more interesting is the Colts' situation at safet

Colts Cast: Pat McAfee talks "Naturdays," his star rising, and the Colts approach to the 2019 season
04/03/2019 Duración: 18minToday we take a quick break from breaking down 2019 NFL Draft options, the Indianapolis Colts' roster review and the NFL Combine to talk with one of the greatest Colts to ever don the horseshoe. Former Colts' punter Pat McAfee joins Matt Danely on the Colts Cast for a quick conversation on multiple fronts. Pat discusses his latest gig in being named the spokesman for Natural Light's "Naturdays" where every moment can become a story, how his name has continued to be attached to the recent opening for Monday Night Football, his rise with the WWE, the Colts' approach to 2019, and much more. Pat has quickly become a household name beyond the Colts' fanbase as he notoriously retired from the NFL to pursue his love for the entertainment industry. In just a short run post-NFL, Pat has earned a contract with the WWE, commentated a college and NFL football game, and has become one of the most recognized podcast hosts in the game. Additionally, Pat's star has only brightened as his opportunities have increased and is g

Colts Cast: Looking to the NFL Draft with Zach Hicks | Receivers
01/03/2019 Duración: 48minThe Indianapolis Colts are preparing for a critical point in their roster rebuild and the 2019 NFL Draft may be the most important of Chris Ballard's time in Indy to this point. Today we continue our look at the team's needs heading into the offseason, and now we move on to the receiver class. This class of pass catchers is extremely fun and interesting to talk about. The class offers a deep field, with the potential for some of them to really break out at the next level, but at the current time, there aren't too many that could be pegged as true game changers. There are some big-bodied receivers, quick and quality route runners, as well as a handful with long speed to offer the deep threats that NFL teams just love to take a bit higher than they might otherwise be drafted. There is also an interesting group of slot receivers who could offer a needed aspect to the Colts' offense that they have yet to have under Frank Reich. Zach Hicks joins Matt Danely once again today, and the two discuss D.K. Metcalf, Kelvi

Colts Cast: Looking to the NFL Draft with Zach Hicks | Cornerbacks
26/02/2019 Duración: 40minWe continue to take a look ahead at the 2019 NFL Draft class as the Indianapolis Colts await Chris Ballard's third pull as the team's GM. Last we looked through the safety class, and today we'll take a look at the other pieces of the secondary as the Colts need to boost their cornerback corps. Zach Hicks comes back to the show to give us the low down on this year's group which could be a key position to watch in late April. There's a diverse group of corners in this class with a very interesting mix of size, speed, and skillsets to sift through. The Colts have an interesting situation heading into the draft with Pierre Desir requiring a decision from the organization. Either way, the Colts will have to look at the position in order to continue their move towards getting younger and more effective in the second year of their new defensive scheme. Depending on what the Colts decide to do through free agency may very well play into how they approach the position in the draft, and whether they take a project or d

Colts Cast: Looking to the NFL Draft with Zach Hicks | Safeties
22/02/2019 Duración: 37minThe Indianapolis Colts are just like every other team in the NFL at the moment as the NFL Combine is just a week away. Though the NFL Draft is a couple months out, we're going to start looking at this class in preparation for this pivotal offseason for the Colts. The Indianapolis Colts have several needs that they'll hope to address this offseason, and it seems as though they should be able to cover several of them between free agency and the draft given that they have a ton of money to use, and a solid amount of youth to be built upon across the roster. One of those needs, with several at the position set to be free agents, is undoubtedly the safety position. With that, our own Zach Hicks joins Matt Danely today to dig in to the 2019 safety class. Maybe the Colts re-sign either Matthias Farley or Clayton Geathers, or both, and don't really have much of a hole at the position. On the other hand, maybe they don't and move towards adding one of the top free agents at the position in Landon Collins or Adrian Amo

Colts Cast: Positional review heading into the offseason | Safety
15/02/2019 Duración: 33minToday we finish up with our look at the Indianapolis Colts position by position review with the safety corps as they head into this pivotal offseason. With the safety group bringing up the caboose in this series, it also happens to be one of the most interesting of all of the units on the roster. The Colts have several in-house free agents, including Clayton Geathers and Matthias Farley, as well as some of the team's depth pieces from the 2018 season. The Colts have a decent tertiary group of safeties throughout the roster who aren't free agents at this time, and also will have their piece at the position in which they'll hope to build around on the backend of the defense -- Malik Hooker. It's reasonable to think that either Geathers or Farley could in fact be re-signed previous to free agency being kicked off as they've both been successful in their own ways, and offer redeemable skill sets going forward. Both have dealt with injury issues as of late, but with a scheme needing a healthy group of diversity,

Colts Cast: Positional review heading into the offseason | Cornerbacks
12/02/2019 Duración: 26minWe're finishing up our positional reviews for the Indianapolis Colts heading into this pivotal offseason, and today we hit on the team's cornerbacks. This could be one of the positions in which we see the most action at for the Colts. Chris Ballard knows that he needs a true No. 1 at cornerback, but there's little doubt that he also likes the youth that the team has with possible starters, as well as depth. Kenny Moore was one of the brightest spots among the corners, but they felt as though Quincy Wilson is a talent that can still grow within this 4-3, Tampa-2 scheme, and they definitely like what Jalen Collins showed them in his time on the practice squad this season. On the other hand, Pierre Desir and Chris Milton are the Colts' only two free agents. Desir played very well, and Milton is almost exclusively a special teams contributor. So what do the Colts do with these two? Desir should get some real consideration from the team, but Milton is likely just a depth signing if anything. There are plenty of fr

Colts Cast: Positional review heading into the offseason | Linebackers
10/02/2019 Duración: 31minAs we continue into the Indianapolis Colts pivotal offseason, we move into the team's linebacker corps to see where the position stands for the 2019 season. The unit showed a massive improvement this past season with the addition of All-Pro rookie Darius Leonard, some great improvement out of Anthony Walker, as well as a couple other rookie additions in Matthew Adams and Zaire Franklin. With some initial leadership assistance from Najee Goode, the unit went from one of the worst positions in 2017 to one of the better groups in the league in the AFC in 2018. In spite of their improvements, Colts' GM Chris Ballard is not one to sit on any position group and become satisfied with what they've achieved. Each position can always be upgraded, more competition in training camp will be added one way or another, and there are several NFL free agents sitting out there who could do that at the bare minimum. There's little doubt that Leonard will be the starting WILL next season, but are the MIKE, and SAM spots locked up

Colts Cast: Positional review heading into the offseason | Defensive Line
08/02/2019 Duración: 32minAs we continue with our outlook on the Indianapolis Colts roster heading into the offseason, we now jump over to the defensive side of the ball. The Colts' defense definitely turned some heads in 2018 despite a first-year defensive coordinator and so many young pieces contributing throughout the year. Today we focus on the defensive line, a group that had some great performances this year, but also needs an infusion of talent just the same. Margus Hunt and Jihad Ward, two guys at opposite ends of their career, could be said to headline the Colts' free agent group, along with Al Woods. Hunt has continued to be productive despite his being undersold before signing with the Colts and doing it in two different defensive systems. His age, and what Ballard sees as his legitimate expected production to be in 2019 will play a huge role in whether he is brought back or not. Woods, who like Hunt is 32 right now, but as a sort of a one-trick pony against the run game, his future with the Colts may be in doubt, but Ball

Colts Cast: Positional review heading into the offseason | O-Line
06/02/2019 Duración: 29minToday we continue on with our positional outlook for the Indianapolis Colts as they head into a pivotal offseason under Chris Ballard and Frank Reich. We've gone through the receivers, quarterbacks, running backs and tight ends, and now we need to look at one of the position groups that achieved great things for the offense somewhat unexpectedly. Going into the season, everyone was excited about the prospects of rookie Quenton Nelson, but most fans and analysts weren't very high on the right side of the Colts' line. And rightly so. However, as it turned out, Matt Slauson did get injured, but was very good while he was healthy. Mark Glowinski filled in, and did so well that he earned himself a 3-year extension with the Colts. The right tackle position was a mess in training camp, but another rookie, Braden Smith, also surprised everyone with how well he could navigate the position and remained the Colts' starter throughout the remainder of the season. The Colts received very good contributions from Evan Boehm

Colts Cast: Positional review heading into the offseason | Receivers
01/02/2019 Duración: 27minAs we continue into the Indianapolis Colts positional review as the team heads into a pivotal offseason, we come to the receiving corps today. The Colts' WR bunch is one of the most interesting positional groups throughout the roster. They've got some young talent that they will be hoping to develop, but they also have many questions that need answered before they consider any options from around the league. Several of those receivers from the 2018 roster are set to be free agents when the league year is set. The Colts have some real needs in terms of filling out their group's efficiency at the position, but have a mixed bag being offered from the pool of outside free agents. Which of those who were on the 2018 roster will be re-signed to continue to develop within Frank Reich's system? Will they find that legit No. 2 WR from the free agent pool, or will they find their needs through the NFL Draft? Matt Danely gives you his outlook on this position group for the offseason. Colts Cast: A look back at the Senior Bowl, Colts offseason plans, and NFL Draft with Zach Hicks
31/01/2019 Duración: 36minToday on the Colts Cast we take a one-show break from the positional reviews to invite Stampede Blue's Zach Hicks to the show to discuss multiple areas of the Colts' offseason plans. Zach attended the Reese's Senior Bowl this past week and as the Colts began to take a look at those who have as much collegiate experience as they could have, and how they could fit their roster in the NFL Draft. Matt Danely and Zach discuss the ambiance of the Senior Bowl activities, how some of the players transitioned through early practices and into the game, as well as who were his best at some of the Colts' positions of need going into the 2019 season. The two also went through some of the underclassmen that will be in the draft pool for the Colts, what the Colts may, or may not want to do throughout the offseason in terms of collecting more youthful talent versus through free agency, as well as which positions are the most critical to fill before the 2019 season. Zach gives great detail and insight into each of these prosp

Colts Cast: Positional review heading into offseason | Tight Ends
30/01/2019 Duración: 21minAs the Indianapolis Colts head into the offseason, they're going to begin making moves as they turn over some of the roster in preparation for the 2019 season. We've talked about their quarterback and running back situations already, and now we're on to the tight ends. The Colts currently have 4 tight ends set to be rostered for next season, and with the current combination of youth and experience at the position, it will be a group that presents some serious depth. Amongst that group, they've got a nice mix of players who have dual skillsets and a couple who are more dedicated blockers or receivers within the gameplan. The team also has a restricted free agent in Ross Travis to look at before they even officially move into free agency. As for what the free agency field has to offer; they'll be some names to look at, but do any of them present the right template between skill and age to pique the interest of Chris Ballard? Today Matt Danely gives you his outlook at the position for the 2019 season. Learn more
