Top 5 KISS Songs 1974-1977 Ep342
30/11/2018 Duración: 01h33minFilmmaker Andrew Sgambati is with us this week to talk about The Greatest Show on Earth as well as to pick our Top 5 KISS Songs 1974-1977! While there's a ton of controversy surrounding the Hottest Band in the Land in 2018 we're happy to have Andrew on to discuss a time when all was right in the world. The mid-1970's were a magical time for KISS. The strength of their six studio albums and two live albums propelled the band into the heights of pop culture consciousness in 1977. Inspired by such a special era for the band, Andrew channeled that inspiration into making The Greatest Show on Earth; a concert film/documentary sourced from video from live 1977 concerts and audio from Alive II. Top 5 Pantera Songs
18/09/2018 Duración: 01h29minIn honor of episode 333 we’re spinning our Top 5 Pantera Songs! It’s been 18 years since the last Pantera studio release and both Vinnie and Dime are no longer with us. But even so, the music they left behind still reverberates today. With the exception of the lesser-known “Glamtera” years, Pantera burst onto a turbulent music world. Indeed, the early 90's were a time of great transition. Notably, grunge was driving out “hair” metal; causing divisions among the music-buying public. Brothers Vinnie and Darrell Abbott, Rex Brown, and Philip Anselmo lit a fire that burned bright and inspired thousands. Considering the environment, for a metal band from Texas to capture the public’s attention and unite different cliques is remarkable. Additionally, the wild, untamed stories of excess while on tour only helped to build the Pantera legend. Top 5 Pantera Songs Choosing our Top 5 Pantera Songs was no easy task. Since both of us are huge fans, we could have easily picked five contenders off each album! This wee

Albums Unleashed - Devil Without a Cause with Kenny Olson Ep330
24/08/2018 Duración: 02h17minOriginal member of Kid Rock's Twisted Brown Trucker Band Kenny Olson brings some amazing stories this week! Devil Without a Cause was unleashed on the world 20 years ago and it's place in music history is solidified. Kenny Olson In this long-form talk, Kenny Olson gives the backstory of how a diverse group of Detroit musos found each other, blended together a sound like no other, and went out and dominated the world. The late 90's were a difficult time for guitar driven rock music. The grunge era had come to an end and the mainstream world was preoccupied with pop tarts and boy bands rising up the charts. To have a foul-mouthed white rapper spitting bars over a rhythm section that would make Motown proud and a guitar duo that could simultaneously belt out the blues while ripping your face off sharing space on TRL is one of the most unique success stories we've ever heard. Kenny Olson goes incredibly in depth in this long for talk; sharing stories on the making of the album as well as experiences that cam

Peter Criss in the 80s - Ep328
26/07/2018 Duración: 01h07minNashville-based guitarist Mike Hutchens is with us this week to talk about his gig with Peter Criss in the 80s. Given that there is so little known about Peter's activities during the mid-1980's, this talk is an eye opener. How did Peter and Stan Penridge decide to base out of Nashville in 1984? How did they choose the band members? Why was the band named Alliance? Those questions, and many more, are answered by Mike in this discussion. Peter Criss in the 80s The 1984-1985 era of Peter Criss' life is a bit of a mystery. Reuniting with songwriting partner Stan "Doc" Penridge, they formed a band dubbed The Desperate Men in Nashville that had a much different sound than what KISS fans were accustomed to. Additionally, the band name changed to Alliance in the process. They would make their live debut at a radio festival in Nashville titled One for the Sun. Also on the bill, RATT and Alcatrazz; but this band sounded much different. After the Music City debut, Alliance would go on to perform just a handful of

Our Favorite Bob Kulick KISS Moments
13/07/2018 Duración: 01h33minWe're kicking off KISSmas in July with our favorite Bob Kulick KISS moments. Bob Kulick has a very interesting place in KISStory. His relationship goes back before the band was even complete. Auditioning ahead of the eventually-chosen Ace Frehley, Bob left an indelible impression on Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley that would pay dividends down the road. Bob Kulick's performances on KISS records are undeniable. His leads on the studio side of ALIVE II, especially on Larger than Life and All American Man, shine through as well as some great playing on Paul Stanley's 1978 KISS solo album. [caption id="attachment_44752" align="alignright" width="350"] Bob Kulick [/caption] Additionally, Bob's writing talent features on the Unmasked album with his contribution to Naked City; a complex track that digs into Beatles influences and pop sensibilities. By 1982 KISS were in a confused state and Bob is brought back to help steer the ship in a rockier direction on Killers. His leads on the compilation album would help t

Six Songs Ralph Viera Thinks You Should Hear
03/06/2018 Duración: 01h27minWe're back this week with a humdinger of an episode that features Ralph Viera (aka Dr. Fukk) picking six songs he thinks you should hear! Ralph is a true renaissance man of rock metal. He hosts multiple live shows on That Metal Station and fronts multiple bands including Thrash or Die. Additionally, Ralph is well known in podcasting circles as the host of the Rock and Metal Combat Podcast. Each week Ralph and co-host Ian Wadley bring great knowledge and humor with an edge. We highly recommend it. [caption id="attachment_39318" align="alignright" width="350"] Ralph Viera [/caption] Equally interesting this week is our discussion at the top of the show of Vinnie Vincent. As we announced a couple months ago, Vinnie was confirmed and announced as a guest for the Nashville Rock n Pod Expo. A lot of work went into promoting his appearance and things were about to go into overdrive. However, things started changing over the past week and ultimately, Vinnie's appearance was cancelled. We share with you the story
