Mark Strigl from the Talking Metal podcast joins us as we pick our favorite and least favorite song off each album from British Steel through Ram It Down. Judas Priest had built up their reputation as one of metal's godfather bands with great 70's releases such as Stained Class, Sad Wings of Destiny, and Hellbent for Leather. We return this week with a show that will run the gamut of emotions as we present our ROCKNPOD Recap and a tribute to our fallen brother Rockin' Ron Runyon. ROCKNPOD Weekend was definitely a blur but we've had time to reflect. In this episode we'll share are thoughts on the entire weekend. Starting from Friday's preparty concert all the way through the comedy show that closed things out on Sunday, we have a lot to reflect on. Tragically, we recently lost our friend and Decibel Geek TV producer Rockin' Ron Runyon this week after a hard fought battle with cancer. Ron's enthusiam, hard work, and spirit took Decibel Geek to new heights. More importantly, his friendship is going to be missed immensely. We go through some of our favorite Rockin' Ron memories and stories and reflect back on what a blessing he was to so many. This legendary album by David Lee Roth was released July 7, 1986 and peaked at #4 on the US Billboard charts. More importantly, it was an absolute statement being put forth by the former Van Halen front man that he could still swing for the fences. With a powerful backing band including the rhythm section of Sheehan and Bissonette combined with the guitar acrobatics of Steve Vai, the Eat 'Em & Smile album is loaded with hooks, precision, and the patented tongue-in-cheek lyrics of Roth. We're back to talk all the latest news on the Hottest Band in the Land with New Noize 15 - KISS Edition! After a pretty non-eventful 2020, KISS has ramped up things this year. This week we're gonna touch on some interesting recent news items pertaining to the band. It was recently announced that A&E will air 'Shout It Out Loud,' a four-hour 2-night documentary on the band. The press release seems to make it pretty clear that the story will be mostly told from the perspective of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Apparently, original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss declined to be involved in the project. Will this have a negative affect on the documentary? Will it be portrayed as a one-sided history? Legendary drummer Vinny Appice joins us this week to examine the making of Dio's Holy Diver album. Coming off success with Black Sabbath, Ronnie James Dio was in a tough spot. While the band was in a good place professionally, interpersonal relationships were severely hampered. While in Sabbath, Dio was offered a solo record deal and decided to snap it up and bring drummer Vinny Appice with him. What resulted is an absolute masterpiece of metal music. Holy Diver was released May 25, 1983 and immediately gained traction in a growing rock and metal scene. Powered by the singles 'Holy Diver' and 'Rainbow in the Dark,' the album is loaded with timeless songs. The rhythm section of Vinny Appice and Jimmy Bain combined with guitarist Vivian Campbell's soaring leads and Dio's majestic vocals produced an album that sounds as amazing today as it did upon its release.
