An objection I’ve heard given by both atheists and liberal Christians is that the God of the Old Testament required a woman to marry her rapist. I answer that objection in detail here, focusing in on an exceptional footnote in the NET Bible.

Scripturally, a young man is not allowed to marry a young woman if the girl’s Yah-fearing father refuses. This lesson speaks to (1) the bride-price, (2) parenting carefully, and (3) the weightier matters of Torah. 

I cover three key words: entice, virgin, and betrothal. We being looking at and unpacking the intricacies of this law concerning seduction.

The backdrop of the death of Yeshua is covered, as well as some eschatological points from the Olivet Discourse. What does it mean to “call on the name of Yahweh”? The curses of Deuteronomy 28 are also covered, and a shocking realization from Josephus’ recorded history is read.

I cover some preliminary thoughts I’ve had while studying Exodus 22:16-17, namely that a good marriage is key, a woman is a gift to man, daughters are to be given not taken, and intimacy is designed for covenant relationship. I also read and hit some highlights in Genesis 24, ending with a warning to both men and women in the Torah community.

Why is there a difference between keeping (guarding) someone’s money and keeping someone’s animal? What’s the big deal about taking an oath before Yahweh? If you borrow your neighbor’s chainsaw and it breaks, do you have to replace the chainsaw? These questions and more are covered in this lesson, and I end with an important admonition about all or nothing.

We must respect our neighbor’s property, even to the point of making restitution when we caused something to happen unintentionally. Here I cover more on restitution, the concept of property rights, how to handle paying back a person you’ve hurt, and trust having to be earned.

Were there wonders and signs in heaven and on earth during Yeshua and his apostles ministries? How could the sun have been darkened and the moon turn to blood in the first century? And what about the “Day of Yahweh” or “Day of the Lord”? Is that day yet future, or is it somehow past? These topics and more are covered.

Some in Christianity have taken a position of total, complete pacifism. Based upon this text in Exodus (and a few others) I believe they are incorrect. This lesson begins to take a look at Apostle Peter’s quotation from the prophet Yo’el (Joel) in regards to the last days. Why did Peter add the phrase “the last days” to Joel’s text?

Sermon pulls from Luke 23:32-43. I respond to a popular clip I’ve seen a lot of lately from Alistair Begg. Should we look to our works at all as a part of our salvation? Is justification by faith alone the apostolic teaching? 

This is a message of encouragement for the saints of Yahweh to keep on serving Him no matter what. It can weigh on a man’s mind after years of being different from most people in the world, but we must endure to the end. Not everyone who starts a race finishes it. May we finish strong, not making excuses for ourselves when we don’t want to keep certain commandments.

We must recognize the importance of Apostle Peter’s preaching. Nothing takes the place of a law-gospel preacher. It would do us all well to find a preacher who is true to Yahweh’s Word and sit under his tutelage.

I decided to answer some FAQ about Passover this year in preparation for the holydays. I look at the reason why Yahweh’s people stay up most of the night on Passover, and at what point we are allowed to exit our house (to fulfill the remaining ordinances). The lesson ends with an actual example in our local congregation of an emergency situation and how Yahweh’s mercy always forgives the repentant, obedient person.
