Stop the Thyroid Madness; A Patient Revolution Against Decades of Inferior Treatment. Janie Bowthorpe is a hypothyroid patient who spent nearly 20 years on Synthroid. She went from doctor to doctor for help because she wasn't feeling well, only to be told It's not your thyroid. Janie began to realize that the burden of getting well was on her shoulders and after going through so many doctors who weren't helping, she was getting to the point of preparing to apply for Social Security Disability. On her own, she found out about using T3 in her treatment, not just T4. It totally changed her life and she started a patient-to-patient movement where patients began to share their experiences with each other. Everyone had similar problems from poor thyroid treatment, poor understanding of labs, poor understanding of other issues as a result of the poor treatment.
