Whether you are launching a simple website or a scaled application, time to go live is a key consideration for your business. Amazon Lightsail is the easiest way to get started on AWS, letting you build and scale your infrastructure faster. In this session, we will walk you through how to use Lightsail to launch your application with a few clicks and scale it as needed for redundancy, traffic spikes, or intergalactic attack. With in-browser SSH and RDP access, easy server management, and in-console guidance, Lightsail provides all the tools needed for builders of all levels – no prior AWS experience required.

Autonomous cars need to identify road signs in real time, drones need to recognize objects with or without network connectivity. In this breakout session, you will learn what is machine learning (ML) inference at the edge and why it matters. We will show you how to use AWS Greengrass to locate cloud trained machine learning models, deploy them to your Greengrass devices, enable access to on-device GPU or FPGA, and apply the models to locally generated data without a need for connection to the cloud.

Serverless architectures let you build and deploy applications and services with infrastructure resources that require zero administration. In the past, you had to provision and scale servers to run your application code, install and operate distributed databases, and build and run custom software to handle API requests. Now, AWS provides a stack of scalable, fully-managed services that eliminates these operational complexities.  In this session, you will learn about serverless architectures, their benefits, and the basics of the AWS's serverless stack (e.g., AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, and AWS Step Functions). We will discuss how to use serverless architectures for a variety of use cases including data processing, website backends, serverless applications, and “operational glue.” You will also get practical tips and tricks, best practices, and architecture patterns that you can take back and implement immediately.

Panasonic and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) launched a partnership to build a connected transportation program in which real-time data would be shared across vehicles, infrastructure, and people to improve safety and mobility on the road – the V2X Deployment Program. To prove its capabilities initially, Panasonic built a fully functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in less than six months, using services such as AWS  IoT, AWS Lambda, Amazon RDS, Amazon ECS, Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, and more. See how customers will  synthesize data from various edge devices (roadside units) on the highways and send it to AWS IoT and analytics services for processing and intelligible actions. We discuss AWS IOT capabilities, design patterns, customer architecture, challenges faced, and lessons learned. In this session, we present the Philips HealthSuite Digital platform (HSDP), which was purposefully built to address the complex challenges of healthcare. HSDP features deep clinical databases, patient privacy, industry standards and protocols, and personal and population data visualizations. You will learn how AWS Professional Services and Philips partnered to build a new core IoT platform for device management, data storage, and data integration leveraging AWS technologies. HSDP is built using AWS IoT and a serverless, microservices-based architecture based on AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway.  

AWS provides unprecedented processing power for graphics-intensive applications in areas such as design, engineering simulations, and 3D content rendering. With Amazon EC2 Elastic GPUs, you can easily attach low-cost graphics acceleration to a wide range of EC2 instances over the network, without the constraints of fixed instance types. In this session, learn more about Elastic GPUs architecture, and how you can build powerful graphics-intensive solutions with great flexibility, high quality, and low cost. Our guest speakers discuss their experience building application streaming and SaaS products on top of Elastic GPUs. You also hear from our ISV partners about certifying Elastic GPUs for their 3D applications.

High-performance computing (HPC) in the cloud enables high scale compute- and graphics-intensive workloads across a range of industries—from aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing to life sciences, financial services, and energy. AWS provides application developers and end users with unprecedented computational power for massively parallel applications in areas such as large-scale fluid and materials simulations, 3-D content rendering, financial computing, and deep learning. In this session, we provide an overview of HPC capabilities on AWS. We describe the newest generation of accelerated computing instances, and we highlight customer and partner use cases across industries. Attendees learn best practices for running HPC workflows in the cloud, including graphical pre- and post-processing, workflow automation, and optimization. Attendees also learn about new and emerging HPC use cases, in particular, deep learning training and inference, large-scale simulations, and high-performance data analytics.
