7 - Austin and Howard Raishbrook of Netflix's 'Shot in the Dark'
18/12/2017 Duración: 52minAustin and Howard Raishbrook are brothers (twins, actually) who star in the new Netflix documentary series "Shot in the Dark." Along with their younger brother Marc, they are freelance news videographers -- or what we call "stringers" in the news business. They work at night listening to police scanners and drive all over the greater Los Angeles area to film crime scenes, fires and accidents -- which they in turn sell to news outlets to air. If you enjoyed the 2014 film "Nightcrawler" with a very intense Jake Gyllenhaal character, you should definitely put this real-life version on your list to binge-watch (fun fact: they did ride-alongs and consulted for the film). The Netflix series follows their company, RMG News, along with two other rival companies, OnSceneTV and Loudlabs, as they chase news stories and face fierce competition to get the better shot, first. It's a dangerous job, and for the average viewer of the show, probably something that you will walk away from with more questions. Lucky fo

6 - Gettin' punny with entertainment reporter Amanda Salas
11/12/2017 Duración: 49minAmanda Salas is as hardworking and smart as she is punny! In fact, when she's not reporting from the red carpet at a movie premiere for FOX 11, she's a "punsultant." Amanda joined me on Olympic & Bundy to talk about her background -- which involves a mix of entertainment, cars and puns. After realizing she could come up with clever captions and hashtags, she smartly decided to monetize her unique skill as a “punsultant.” She's even delved into the world of pun competitions, joining other punslingers on stage in the art of wordplay. She's always had a love of cars and could tell you any make and model in a parking lot. She's done several automotive hosting gigs in her career, including jobs with AutoTrader, WheelsTV and Speed TV network. Amanda later brought her puns to the entertainment news show "Hollywood Today Live," and eventually, to FOX 11 as an entertainment reporter. Listen to our whole conversation and follow her puntastic posts on social media (www.amandasalas.com for more). Share this episode:

04/12/2017 Duración: 59minShaun Leverett grew up in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Watts. He has a studio in Koreatown called Body Art by Shaun, which offers Muay Thai kick boxing and high intensity personal training instruction. 3 - Sharkbanz, a wristband designed to deter sharks
20/11/2017 Duración: 44minFear of sharks? There's a band for that. Sharkbanz is something you can wear around your wrist or ankle in the water that uses a magnetic technology to help deter sharks. We invited Davis Mersereau, VP of business development at SharkBanz, to provide some insight on the product -- along with Tower 26 coach Gerry Rodrigues to share his experience as a longtime swimmer and coach. If you’re a surfer or swimming in open water a lot, this episode talks about the technology in layman's terms, some of the research behind the product and the company’s active partnership with Shark Defense Technologies to improve its effectiveness. While the company does not promise to entirely protect you from all shark attacks, Mersereau says it's a way to "reduce the risk" and give someone peace of mind. -Share this story: http://bit.ly/2AXpZQb -Thank you to Davis Mersereau with Sharkbanz (www.sharkbanz.com) and Gerry Rodrigues with Tower 26 (www.tower26.com).
