Episode 115: The B-Mets and Squee! Mets!
28/04/2015 Duración: 01h08minIn the "Well, we're here" edition, there is more talk about the 2015 Mets. This podcast has long been concerned with Carlos Gomez, and Jeffrey is interested again. Greg does not entirely understand what consitutes an extreme pro wrestling stipulation, but that can be forgiven we guess. We also stil don't know if the Mets are good, but the attitude towards this season versus "building a sustainable winner" may have to start changing. Oh, and Jeffrey went to Manchester, NH and watched some bad Double-A baseball in the freezing cold. There was good coffee though. We also answer your e-mails and things get a little dark, but they perk up for your weekly IFK Gotenborg update. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Episode 114: Are the Mets...good?
21/04/2015 Duración: 01h17minIn the "Baseballs: Please stop hitting Mets in the arm" edition, Jeffrey, Steve, and Aaron take on the important questions of our times, like "Are the Mets...good," "Is Hansel so hot right now," and "which Met would you go back in time with to kill Hitler?" There are also multiple Champ Stuart e-mails, and we discuss the likelihood of Wally Backman, Marlins manager. Plus there is the usual soccer stuff, and a survey of the year in music: 2000. Episode 113: Live at Foley's and #weirdbaseball
15/04/2015 Duración: 02h05minIn the "Live at Foley's 2: Podcast Harder" edition, Jeffrey, Chris, and Greg are Live at Foley's. And podcasting (harder). After a brief soujorn into terrible 90's music, it's time to preview the Mets minor league affiliates, or at least drool over the St. Lucie roster. Next, Ted Berg from USA Today (?!) joins the show to discuss the magic of small sample sizes, Jeff Francoeur, and Taco Bell breakfast. Then, Jeffrey butchers the Shortstop Avenue Audio theme after three beers, but we discuss Wilmer Flores' woes and reconsider some recent e-mails. That should be it, but the Mets played an incredibly weird baseball game last night, so look for the hidden track where Greg and Jeff discuss weird defense, weird pitch selection, and weird baseball. Episode 112: A happyish recap
07/04/2015 Duración: 42minIn the "No-han" edition, we recap the one game the Mets have played so far this year. And it was good (mostly!). Jeffrey waxes about BARTYOLO, Greg picks out a pet for Wilmer Flores, and we consider the future of a Mets bullpen sans Jenrry Mejia. There is also an extra long Swedish soccer segment to help pad this out, because again, the Mets have only played one game. But hey, there is an extra long live show to look forward to this weeked at Foley's on West 33rd in Manhattan! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Episode 111: Opening Day can't come soon enough
03/04/2015 Duración: 01h13minIn the "#sandysmess" edition, Steve and Jeffrey discuss the benefits of camel milk, shake shack express lines, and the Juan Lagares extension. We also debate Rafael Montero vs. Dillon Gee, celebrate the return of Cesar Puello, and answer eight of your e-mails. There is also of course an (abbreviated) Swedish soccer update and a lot of Wrestlemania talk. I guess it's Armbar Avenue Audio this week, but hey, it's also the last podcast before actual Mets baseball, you guys! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Episode 110: Amazin' Blevenue Audio
01/04/2015 Duración: 39minIn the "The Assassination of Oliver Perez by the Coward Jerry Manuel" edition, Jeffrey and Aaron discuss all the new left-handed relievers the Mets have acquired. We break down both deals and discuss Steve Schreiber's MS Paintz skills, Alex Torres' haberdashery, and what the Mets gave up to shore up the 2015 pen. We also wonder if this is a precursor to a Dillon Gee trade (so far, not so much). We'll be back later in the week with your e-mails and our take on the Juan Lagares extension. Episode 109: The podcast broke Jeffrey's Mac again
29/03/2015 Duración: 56minIn the "On tape delay in some (all) areas" edition, Jeffrey and Greg discuss which Mets could have a future music career, debate the merits of various second baseman not named Daniel Murphy, various Opening Day pitchers not named Matt Harvey, and preview the Mets 2015 backstops. They also find time to report good news from Sweden and Sheffield and create a Mets Old Timer's game lineup. All of this happened a very long time ago, because, well, see the episode title. Episode 108: This is a sad podcast
19/03/2015 Duración: 01h37minIn the "YARD GOATS!" edition, Jeffrey and Chris actually recorded before the announcement of YARD GOATS, so this podcast is mostly full of sad things (unless you are a Swedish soccer fan). We touch on Zack Wheeler's torn UCL, discuss our most gut-punching moments as a Mets fan, and consider Wilmer Flores, Mets Opening Day shortstop (again). There are some happy things, we suppose. David Wright hit a big dong, Lucas Duda will probably be good again, and Ronny is an Amazin' Avenue reader apparently (and has some damn stylish glasses). Oh, and definitely stick around for a discussion of Aderlin Rodriguez batting practice laser shows. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Episode 107: Practice Games, Phillies, Pizza
13/03/2015 Duración: 01h43minIn the "Jeffrey will tell the story of how he named his dog again" edition, we are already tired of spring training, so Jeffrey and Steve meander about discussing dog names, Yusmeiro Petit bobbleheads, and teams full of Lucas Dudas, rather than discussing all the stuff Terry Collins is saying. We do find time to discuss what Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard have been doing though, and it's very good. Then we preview the 2015 Mets outfield, tackling, well, things that Terry Collins is saying. Like Juan Lagares will bat leadoff, and Curtis Granderson will stay in right field. Next, Liz Roscher of The Good Phight joins the show to discuss the sad state of the 2015 Phillies, and why FanGraphs writers all hate Cole Hamels. Finally, Brian Renzi makes his podcast debut and helps Jeffrey answer your e-mails while he makes a pizza. We wrap things up with your weekly IFK Goteborg update and the announcement of our next live show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Episode 105: Spring training preview
28/02/2015 Duración: 01h28minIn the “Jeffrey promises not to tell the Shingo Takatsu story again” edition, Jeffrey and Chris talk about all the things that aren’t really happening even though there are in fact baseball players in Port St. Lucie doing baseball things. We discuss Dillon Gee’s uncertain future, Jenrry Mejia’s unbelievable hair, and Eric Campbell’s unassailable roster spot. And of course there is shortstop talk as well. We also kick off our positional previews with the Mets bullpen (#blameMcShane). Jeffrey isn’t sold on Bobby Parnell, closer of the (near) future, and neither of us are sure he 2015 Mets pen will be good (though we suppose this is an improvement from years past when we were pretty sure they weren’t). We wrap things up with your e-mails, which include Chris’s pro wrestling history and a serious consideration of Robinson Cancel, and the podcast adopts a soccer team (no, it’s not who you think). Episode 104: Prospect list in podcast form
19/02/2015 Duración: 02h13minIn the "Jeffrey has had a weird twenty-four hours" edition, Jeffrey, Greg, and Steve talk about the 2015 Amazin' Avenue Prospect List, which you can conveniently check out at Amazin' Avenue proper. On the podcast version, we take an overview of the Mets system and revisit the 2011 Baseball America Mets prospect list for some reason (probably it's the first one we thought to google). Next, we dive a bit deeper into Noah Syndergaard, our #1 prospect, since we weirdly haven't talked about him that much on the show. Then, we get into the kvetching about who had guys ranked too high or low and wrap up the prospect portion with a list of "our guys." Finally it's your e-mails of course, and Jeffrey wraps up the show with a now-outdated, but still shameless plug for his MLB Now appearance and a less-outdated, but no less shameless plug for his wife's concert series. Episode 103: James Shields is not a Met
11/02/2015 Duración: 02h12minIn the "Michael Cuddyer: Mindfreak" edition, Jeffrey and Greg discuss the films of Werner Herzog, Jeffrey and David Roth discuss the films of Ron Howard, and then Jeffrey and Greg discuss the merits of the TV show, "Sliders." This has been the worst offseason ever, you guys. There is also kvetching about James Shields, an in-depth analysis of the playoff odds of our two favorite second-division sports teams, and a lot of discussion about the 2003 Mets. Episode 102: Listener-generated content
04/02/2015 Duración: 01h10minIn the "non-live snow day edition," Jeffrey and Greg indulge in a little listener-generated content. Yes, that's just a fancy way of saying it is an e-mail show. We talk about where we would play in a hypothetical Amazin' Avenue charity baseball game, debate the merits of the "Warthen slider," and issue a plea for more neutral minor league parks. Then, Steve Sypa joins the show to talk about this weekend's Amazin' Aveunue Regional Gathering Here (AARGH) in Manhattan, but mostly we just end up talking about the WWE's recent Royal Rumble. Consider yourself forewarned. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Episode 101: Snow day live!
27/01/2015 Duración: 55minIn the "I hereby declare this day to be Snow Day, the funnest day in the history of the podcast" edition. Jeffrey had an idea to try out Blog Talk's live studio feature while he is snowed in his apartment. So we'll talk Mets baseball and the usual other stuff assuming he can figure out how this works. Episode 100: Max Scherzer is not a Met
22/01/2015 Duración: 01h05minIn the "Armando Bleepin' Benitez" edition, since we've spent the last 99 of these talking about the Mets, we decide to mix things up and talk about the Nationals. Also, the Mets didn't do anything last week. The Nationals did sign Max Scherzer, so Greg and Jeffrey discuss if it's a good deal for the Nats, and what it might mean for the 2015 (and beyond) Mets. We also have your e-mails on Matz vs. Syndergaard, Beane vs. Alderson, why the Wilpons are still here, and we'll try to talk you off the ledge so you are around for the next 100 (or 104?) of these. Cheers! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Episode 99: This has been...Shortstop Avenue Audio
15/01/2015 Duración: 01h57minIn the "Grand Slam Single" edition, imagine that, we're talking about a potential shortstop AND a trade the Alderson front office hasn't made. Yes, the Mets were (are) rumored to be interested in Ian Desmond, so Jeffrey and Greg bemoan having to still talk about shortstops, and then proceed to break down the pros and cons of a potential Desmond deal. That still leaves plenty of time to go over the 2015 Mets ZiPS projections and answer potentially incriminating e-mails. All in a week's work on Amazin' Avenue Audio.
