After a holiday week break, Grace is back with some news to talk about. She gets into the major news around the league, a few free agent signings and some postings from Japan, plus a bit on Shohei Ohtani. It's been a little week for baseball news but the extra two days Grace took to record this episode gave her a little more to work with. The manager merry-go-round ended with Mendoza leading the Mets, and even more shocking results elsewhere. Mendoza seems fine now but no one can know until the Mets take the field in 2024.And some reports are starting to create multiple pictures of what that Mets team might look like, for better or worse. Then, with nothing much else to talk about, Grace gets into a topic she is very passionate about: the NWSL championship game played this weekend. Gotham has won their first trophy, and the first championship for the city (and its surrounding area) in over a decade. The Rangers have won the World Series, and the 2023 MLB season is officially a wrap! Grace discusses the end of the World Series, and her inability to predict anything. The fan reaction in Texas is tremendous, and who knows when there will be another first time winner. Grace also touches on the ridiculousness of complaining about television ratings as fans. Then, Grace goes into the Mets offseason, with the manager spot being the most pressing concern. This episode was recorded prior to the Counsell/Mendoza news breaking, so she clearly has no idea what’s coming. It's another boring playoff week, but a bit of Mets news gives Grace something to talk about. There's a bit of manager news, some awards and nominations, and a former Met retirement. Plus a lot of Grace struggling to remember past World Series winners for some frat radio content. Then, Grace takes a look at the two playoff series running at the time of recording. The ALCS with its drama between Adolis García and Bryan Abreu, and Grace takes a stand on FIB's rooting interests in the series.
