  • Nick Cave on the Gospel According To Mark

    21/10/2009 Duración: 02min

During a Q&A session at this year's iTunes festival, one audience member asked Nick Cave what his literary inspirations were for The Death of Bunny Munro. Nick cited two books as being particularly influential: The SCUM Manifesto by Valerie Solanas, and The Gospel According To Mark. Valerie Solanas' diatribe against men was a character reference for Bunny, and the gospel provided both a structural and a narrative reference. In Mark, as with Bunny Munro, the fate of the protagonist is clear from the outset, but at the same time, the reliability of both narrators is shaky. As luck would have it, Nick introduced The Gospel According To Mark for the Pocket Canon edition, first published in 1999. We have tracked down the audio introduction exclusively for Enhanced Editions readers.
