Conversation 276:  The Story, Journey and Passion of Bruce Dooyema, Iowa Egg Farmer Graciously sponsored by the Iowa Egg Council Bruce is a third-generation farmer in Sioux County, Iowa. He works alongside other family farmers to operate Center Fresh Eggs that has operations in four counties in Iowa and also in the African nation of Mozambique. He has partnered with farmers in Mozambique to establish local egg production and build schools for agriculture education. These farms have 10 million egg laying hens producing around 8 million eggs a day. Bruce is passionate about the role of modern agriculture in feeding people. Iowa’s egg farmers produce 16 billion eggs each year, which is enough to feed every American for 47 days! As a husband and a father of three daughters, he knows his family expects the same high-quality, affordable and safe eggs that consumers demand.  As an egg farmer, he is committed to doing what is right for his hens, the environment and his community.
