Michigan native Joe Swanberg has become one of the leaders of indie filmmaking not just in his adopted home town of Chicago, but throughout the industry. Jake Johnson was born and raised in Evanston, IL. He left the midwest to study dramatic writing at NYU and founded the comedy troupe The Midwesterners.
