Globally and locally, people are hurting. In Afghanistan, the tragedy continues to unfold, and the suffering doesn’t seem to have an end in sight. In Haiti, they continue to pick up the pieces, and it seems like another hit comes before they have the time to rebuild from the previous hit. Hurricane Ida wrought destruction in Louisiana and 7 other states. Locally – our ERs are over capacity, and many of us know someone who had died, been hospitalized, or endured terrible pain due to Covid. How does the church – that’s you and me – respond in the midst of all this pain?
