More than ever, the study of the Catholic heritage is vitally important for today’s Catholic Christian. In a polarized age as our own, it is important for students of Church history to be able to comprehend the actions and ideas of others, even if they ultimately choose not to accept those actions and ideas. The study of the Catholic heritage allows students to consider the multiple factors (economic, social, political and religious) that go into shaping the beliefs and actions of others. This ability to comprehend the beliefs and actions can cause one to adopt a more balanced view of and approach toward others.
