Jay Horwitz had dreams of being the press secretary for John F. Kennedy. . He was a liberal activist. He once campaigned for George McGovern, which may have served him well during some of those h bad New York Mets teams. He would make the jump from the SID at Fairleigh Dickenson directly to the Majors as on April 1 1980 he started his long run Jawith the New York Mets, as the head of public relations for the Mets overseeing some of the greatest Mets Moments and some not so great moments , he is now the Mets V.P. of alumni relations and team historian who hosts a great podcast entitled Amazing Mets Alumni Podcasts.
