The great Hilton Valentine assumed room temperature this week in R&R brothers and sisters.....A sad bit of news to be sure.I met Hilton Valentine at a record show in Connecticut a few years ago and purchased a few 45's from him. We got to discuss some of his guitars, amps, influences, etc. I asked him where he got the idea for the guitar into on "Baby let me take you home"......he laughed and told me from Jimmy Page who played guitar on Hoagy Lands 45 rpm the same year. What? Where can I get a copy? Hilton had one for sale so after a short negotiation, I had the original in my hand...What? The Bert Berns penned Hoagy 45 wasn't the original? No Berns got it from Dylan [Baby, Let me follow you down] who got it from a traditional folk song....you can't make this stuff up! So the incredible guitar intro is Page according to Hilton but Wikipedia has Eric Gale as the guitarist...?
