Jesus is the perfection of liberty. We are the progression of liberty. To progress in the liberty that has been given to us – through Jesus - we first have to define liberty, declare liberty, and defend liberty. It was made available when He died on the cross for us, but we have to take hold of it for ourselves. Jesus is the only one that can provide us with true freedom and liberty. The extent we’re connected to Jesus is the extent we will have liberty. Our freedom is not attached to our own independence but attached to our dependence on Jesus.
