In this passage, Jesus reveals for the first time His identity and planned death and resurrection. He also lays out His demands for discipleship. We discover here that Jesus has a cross in His future and His followers also have a cross to bear. But the cross leads to a crown. Death leads to glory. Christ crucified is foolishness to the world, but it is the power and wisdom of God to those who believe.
