In order for God to pour new things into our lives, we have to remain soft and flexible to expand our capacity. Is it possible that fasting keeps us soft and flexible for the new things God wants to pour into our lives? Matthew 9:17 says, “Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” Without keeping our hearts soft and flexible, we can’t contain the things God wants to pour into our lives. Fasting keeps our hearts ready to receive what God has for us!
