The Grand Rapids African American Health Institute (GRAAHI) is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for health parity in the African American community through promoting education and change in public health policy. Evidence based research suggest that there continues to be racial and ethnic disparities when it comes to providing health care and health coverage for minority populations in the United States. African Americans and Hispanics make up approximately 28% of the population in the U.S. but make up 43.1% of the 50 million Americans that don’t have health coverage.
