Standing Rock Profile with Nacole Walker. Nacole Walker is Hunkpapa Lakota and Phabaksa Dakota from the Standing Rock Nation. She is a Lakota Language educator and teaches the Lakota and Dakota language at Sitting Bull College, the Lakota Summer Institute, and in communities across Standing Rock and Lakota Country. Previously, she held the positions of Program Director at Sitting Bull College’s Lakhol’iyapi Wahohpi/Wichakini Owayawa (Lakota Language Immersion Nest), and Tribal Education Activities Coordinator at the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Department of Education. Nacole is passionate about education and revitalizing the Ocheti Sakowin languages. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from Dartmouth College in 2011, and is currently completing her Master of Education in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from the University of Mary.
