As Abraham’s visitors begin to leave, the LORD deliberates about revealing to Abraham what is about to happen to Sodom and Gomorrah. The LORD shows His patience as He decides to go down and see the greatness of the outcry of the wickedness of these two cities. As the two angels turn toward Sodom, Abraham remains before the LORD to intercede on behalf of the righteous in the two wicked cities.
