While most pet guardians know firsthand the joys and benefits that come with sharing their lives with animals, many are unaware of the physical and mental health benefits that can come from this relationship. It is only recently that scientists have started to explore the benefits of the human-animal bond and today we’ll talk with a Calgary-based group that provides volunteer opportunities for your pet to become a therapy animal for children and seniors.   We’ll also learn about some incredible options for pets with limited mobility or missing limbs from Orthopets Canada and about advances in animal prosthetics and orthopedics. We’ll also find out how they are helping provide mobility to shelter and foster home animals through their “Bionic Buddies” initiative.   And, Dr. Wendy answers listener pet questions!
