My Updated TributeThis week, Catalonians voted for independence from Spain during a citizen organized referendum. The voter turnout of more than 2 million Catalonians decided overwhelmingly to seceded from Spain in a landslide victory, with 92% of voters supporting the separation. Spain's King Felipe V and the Spanish High Court, however, saw the vote as an illegal attempt to leave the country unilaterally.My heart goes out to the citizens of both Catalonia and Spain. It's a difficult time for all. In the end, though, Catalonia is as unique from Spain with a rich and historic culture. Whatever happens, Catalonia, keep you head high and may the memories your treasured past and the delights of a more free and glory-filled future be yours.
