The Security Cabinet has approved plans to pave a new bypass road that will dramatically relieve traffic congestion between Jerusalem and Maaleh Adumim and also strengthen security. Daniel Seidemann, an Israeli attorney specializing in the geopolitics of Jerusalem, said that enormous political pressure had been placed on Israel not to open the road. He told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that the Israeli government was doing it now because it was dependent on the support of the extreme right who have been pushing for the move.
