The Yankees win their eighth straight games against the Astros

Sinopsis

The New York Yankees beat the Houston Astros for the eighth time in a row in the regular season. Stacey recaps the game and focuses on the pitching matchup between Luis Gil and Justin Verlander. Gil won. Verlander was tagged for seven runs—Alex Verdugo, Anthony Volpe and Giancarlo Stanton all went deep against him—and it was the worst start for Verlander against the Yankees in his career. Gil lasted six innings and thanks to the offense, Aaron Boone didn’t have to use any of the important relievers and gave guys like Ron Marinaccio a chance to get into the game. Then Brian goes through some numbers that show how bad MLB umpires have been so far in 2024 and he gives examples of some of the not-so-great moments for the guys behind the plate. And finally Brian and Stacey preview Wednesday’s matchup between Spencer Arrighetti and Carlos Rodón. Rodón is looking to rebound from his so-so previous start and Stacey is just hoping the offense can take advantage of Arrighetti’s 8,26 ERA. Join the LOY Insiders Club! htt
