Magnificent Life

"When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." John 19:30  As the great preacher Charles Spurgeon once said, When Jesus said, 'It is finished,' He meant it. His sacrifice on the cross has redeemed us from all sin and shame. Romans 8:1 reminds us that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Just as the prodigal son was welcomed back by his loving father with open arms, we are embraced by our Heavenly Father with overflowing grace. In Genesis, God provided a ram as a substitute sacrifice for Abraham's son Isaac, foreshadowing Christ taking our place on the cross. The story of Jonah being saved from the belly of the great fish reflects how Christ has rescued us from death and destruction. Let us take hold of this truth and walk boldly in the freedom that Christ has won for us.
