Turning Hard Times Into Good Times

In 2002, Robert Prechter’s book Conquer the Crash predicted a major decline in the stock market and in the economy. He seems to have been “spot on” in his prediction, given the horrendous stock market decline following the Lehman Brothers collapse and the worst business downturn since the Great Depression. Now, the equity markets have bottomed. Since March we have been enjoying a powerful bull market in stocks, commodities, and, to a lesser extent, precious metals. If we are to believe our government’s economic numbers, the economy is improving as well. But is the worst behind us? Have we now conquered the crash? And what about gold now that it has risen to over $1,000? Is it time to bet on good times again? Is it time to sell gold and buy stocks?
