The exhibition "Design Emergency" at the Vitrina Gallery at the Holon Institute of Technology – HIT, depicts that exactly: How Israel's industrial design community – as individuals as well as in the framework of the various academic institutions – came together in a vast volunteer effort after the October 7th attacks, to meet specific needs of Israel's security forces and the home front – be it producing supplemental pouches and pockets for battle vests, or special covers for hospital stretchers. The second component of the exhibition focusses on visual communications and the significant awareness campaigns that were launched, some having international impact, including posters of the hostages, videos and other messaging material. Vitrina Gallery curator Dr. Dalia Manor, spoke to KAN reporter Naomi Segal about the exhibition and why it was important to cast light on this unique undertaking.
