Sinopsis

723: On January 1, 2020 the World Handicap System went into effect in the US along with several other countries around the world. In the US, this new system replaces the old USGA GHIN. Our guest is Dean Knuth, who was a charter member of the USGA Handicap Research Team and also created the USGA Course Rating System in 1976, then later the Slope Rating System to make handicaps more reliable and portable. Hence his nickname “The Pope of Slope”. He’s not a fan of the new WHS nor how it was implemented. He joins us to break it down. He also discusses the latest development in his latest venture as the co-founder and creator of the High Heat 257+ Drivers, Fairway Woods, and Hybrids designed so that amateur golfers can hit longer and straiter shots.  Here’s an article that explains features of the new WGS. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/five-keys-to-the-new-world-handicap-system And here’s what Dean had to say in a GolfDigest followup. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/voices-the-flaw-in-the-new-world-handic
