Last month, during a visit to the Stella Maris monastery in Haifa, President Yitzhak Herzog spoke out against the spate of attacks on Christians in Israel, particularly in Jerusalem’s Old City.  "In recent months we have seen very serious phenomena towards the Christian denominations in the Holy Land," said Herzog.  The president called for greater understanding of the histories of the religious communities in the Holy Land, noting that it was the birthplace of the three monotheistic religions. "We must do everything so that the common life continues together," he said.
