Four people, including a mayoral candidate,  have been killed in a shootout in the northern Israeli Arab town of Abu Snan, sending shockwaves throughout Israel’s Arab society, which is suffering an unprecedented crime wave. The latest incident  brings the number of deaths linked to criminal violence in Israel's Arab community in 2023 to 156 – over twice as many as in the same period last year. KAN's Mark Weiss spoke with Dr Gadi Hitman , Chair of Ariel University’s Middle East and Political Science department and asked him how Israeli Arab society is responding to the unprecedented wave of violence.
