South Africa has water problems. Under the auspices of the South African government and in light of the existing difficulties in the country, KKL-JNF and the Water Authority are currently holding a conference regarding water desalination, water technologies, and water conservation in South Africa. Due to economic hardships and a lack of suitable technologies, the South African government has been implementing temporary daily power outages, which have been affecting the quality of life for the residents of the large African nation. In an initiative led by the Israeli Embassy in South Africa and KKL-JNF, a delegation of professionals in the field has been sent to share their knowledge during a special conference held in South Africa. We spoke with Orna To’eg, the director of the South African desk at KKL in Israel, about where and why they have stepped in to help.
