The uptick in violence in the West Bank has been blamed on the weakening of the Palestinian Authority. It also comes as the Iranian regime is funneling funds to extremist Arab fundamentalist terrorist organizations such as the Islamic Jihad and Hamas who are filling the vacuum in the West Bank with a growing support of armed resistance to Israel. Dr. Kobi Michael, editor of Strategic Assessment at the INSS, said that a third intifada was not on the horizon but more violence definitely was, mainly because the Palestinian Authority and its leaders were so weak.
