Chile has apologized to Israel over the recent diplomatic incident when the  country's president, Gabriel Boric, refused to accept the credentials of incoming Israeli Ambassador Gil Artzyeli, against the backdrop of the death of a Palestinian youth during an IDF operation. The acting Chilean foreign minister, in a phone call with the director-general of Israel's foreign ministry. stressed that ties with Israel are important for Chile. The acceptance of credentials ceremony has been rescheduled for September 30th. The current president of Chile is a known critic of Israel.
