Sinopsis
Dozens of prominent economists and academics have added their names to a letter released last week warning that the government's proposed judicial reforms will be a disaster for Israel's economy. The signatories now number more than 350, and they span the political spectrum, including former economic advisers to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu has asserted that the reforms will help the economy flourish. But heads of some of Israel's largest banks and other businesspeople with whom Netanyahu met on Friday also voiced concern about potential economic fallout. One of the signatories to the letter, Prof. Avia Spivak, professor emeritus of economics and a former deputy governor of the Bank of Israel, spoke to KAN reporter Naomi Segal.
