A new study by the Taub Center reveals a worrying trend: in 2020, Israel was ranked number one in the world in per capita consumption of opioid pain narcotics – overtaking the United States where the phenomena has reached epidemic proportions. The researchers have urged consideration of immediate actions to reduce consumption and over-subscription. Prof. Nadav Davidovitch, chair of the health policy program at the Taub Center and director of the School of Public Health at Ben Gurion University, authored the report together with Dr. Yannai Kranzler and Oren Miron.
