After the funerals of the four people killed in the shooting close to Eli, the government announced plans  for 1,000 new  housing units for  the grief-stricken community.  "Our response to terror is to strike it with force, and to build our country," a statement from the prime minister’s office  said. The move came despite international condemnation of separate plans to construct more than 4,000 new homes in settlements across Judea and Samaria. Speaking  to KAN's Mark Weiss , Eli mayor Ariel Elmaliah  said he welcomed the decision to build 1,000 new homes but stressed that this is not enough and what is needed is a major IDF operation.
