The Israel Antiquities Authority has announced an amnesty for the public to return any and all artifacts without any kind of punishment. The amnesty is expected to last for a few weeks and people can bring back any antiquity they may have without facing any prosecution. Prof. Gideon Avni, the chief archaeologist of the Israel Antiquities Authority, said this was the first time that an amnesty operation was being made. He told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that they expect coins, pottery and other artifacts, but also architectural fragments such as columns and capitals and maybe some surprises.
