Prof. Avital Gasith of the School of Zoology at Tel Aviv University has won the 2023 Israel Prize for environmental sciences and sustainability research – the first time ever the prestigious honor has been bestowed in this field.  The prize was awarded for his pioneering work in the protection of nature in Israel, especially waterways, and his active civic involvement in promoting conservation.
